Windshield Rest Cradle Assembly ?️
This cradle assembly supports the lower edge of the windshield where it meets the body cowl. It is needed to keep the glass seated correctly, reduce vibration, and maintain a neat seal line for the wiper area. A solid rest point also helps prevent stress cracks caused by body flex and rough roads.
How It Works ⚙️
Installed at the base of the windshield, it acts like a shaped support bracket that holds alignment between the glass, cowl panel, and surrounding trim. It spreads load evenly, keeps the windshield from shifting, and helps the sealing surfaces stay consistent during temperature changes and chassis movement.
What If It’s Broken? ?
A worn or cracked cradle can let the windshield sit unevenly. Common results include wind noise, water leaks into the cabin, loose or lifted cowl trim, wiper chatter, and faster seal failure. In severe cases, the glass may develop edge stress and crack over time.
