Rear Differential Support Mount (No.2)

Why you need it

This mount holds the rear differential tight to the subframe, keeping the pinion angle correct and the driveline smooth. It absorbs torque and road shocks, reducing vibration and gear noise. Replacing a tired mount restores quiet ride quality and protects the prop shaft, axle joints, bearings, and seals. It is an OE-style, direct-fit solution designed for long service life and stable handling.

How it works

A strong steel bracket surrounds a molded elastomer bushing. The rubber isolates NVH while the bracket fixes the housing in the right position. Under acceleration and braking, the bushing shears slightly to control movement, then recenters. Correct stiffness keeps ring-and-pinion mesh precise, maintains driveshaft angle, and prevents misalignment that can wear bearings and make the diff whine.

What happens if it’s broken ⚠️

Common signs are clunk when shifting from D to R, thump on take-off, mid‑speed shudder, and extra vibration in the floor. You may see cracked rubber or a sagging diff. Driving like this can lead to pinion seal leaks, faster CV and prop shaft wear, cupped tires, and even damage to rear subframe bushings.

Tech tips ️

Support the differential with a jack, swap the mount, and torque all fasteners at normal ride height. Replace rusty hardware. Check other rear mounts at the same timeβ€”one weak part will shorten the life of the new mount.
