Lower No.2 Cab Mount Cushion — Toyota Body-on-Frame SUVs
This cab mount cushion is the silent hero between the frame and the cabin. It keeps the body at the correct height, centers the cab, and filters road shock and engine vibration. In off-road and heavy-duty use, it protects the shell, doors, steering column, and dash from harsh impacts, improving NVH and ride comfort .
Why you need it
Over time, the original rubber hardens, cracks, or collapses. When the mount loses shape, cabin alignment drifts, squeaks appear, and the ride becomes harsh. Replacing it restores body height, smoothness, and structural calm.
How it works
The cushion is a tough elastomer block with a metal sleeve and washers. The chassis bolt passes through, clamping the cab to the frame. The rubber compresses to absorb vertical and torsional loads, isolating noise and preventing metal-to-metal contact .
What happens if it fails
Expect extra vibration at idle, rattles over bumps, and a dull thump on takeoff. Doors may bind, panel gaps shift, the cab can sit low or tilted, and the steering shaft and fan shroud may run out of alignment. Severe wear risks bolt looseness or sleeve rust-seizure, leading to clunks and accelerated wear elsewhere ⚠️. Replace in pairs on the same crossmember and torque at normal ride height for best results.
