Transmission Support Rubber Mount Assembly
This drivetrain mount is needed to hold the transmission in the correct position while isolating vibration. It keeps the powertrain stable during gear changes, acceleration, and braking, so the cabin feels smooth and the driveline stays aligned.
How it works βοΈ
Inside the mount, a reinforced rubber insulator bonds to metal brackets. The rubber flexes to absorb engine and gearbox movement, while the metal structure limits excessive travel. This balance reduces harshness and protects nearby parts from stress.
What happens if itβs worn or broken
A failed mount lets the transmission shift too much. You may notice clunks on takeoff, vibration at idle, rough shifting, or banging when changing from Drive to Reverse (or during clutch engagement on manuals). If ignored, it can strain CV joints, exhaust flex sections, hoses, wiring, and even cause misalignment that speeds up bushing and axle wear.
When to replace οΈ
- Visible cracks, separation, or collapsed rubber
- Excessive drivetrain movement under throttle
- New vibrations after starts or shifts
Compatibility β
- Civic
- Civic Gx
