Power Steering Suction Hose — Pump Inlet Line
Why this part is needed
This molded low-pressure hose feeds hydraulic fluid from the reservoir to the steering pump. It keeps the pump primed, stops air from entering, and delivers smooth, quiet assist during parking and city drives. With age, heat, and oil exposure, the rubber swells, hardens, or cracks. A tired hose pulls air, turning the fluid foamy and making the wheel heavy.
How it works
The inlet hose works under suction, not high pressure. A large bore and reinforced walls prevent collapse under vacuum. Molded bends keep flow smooth, avoiding sharp kinks. Proper sealing at both ends and ATF/PSF-safe material protect against leaks. This design prevents cavitation, reduces pump noise, and extends pump life .
What happens if it’s broken ⚠️
Cold-start groan, pump whine, bubbles in the reservoir, slow steering at idle, wet spots near clamps, or ATF smell. Continued driving can starve the pump, score the vanes, and lead to total pump failure.
Install tips
Use new clamps, match factory routing, and fill with the correct fluid. Prime and bleed: turn wheels lock-to-lock several times, recheck level, and inspect for leaks. Never twist or kink the hose.
