Power Steering Hydraulic Pump Assembly ⚙️

This hydraulic pump is a key part of the power steering system on vehicles that use fluid pressure to reduce steering effort. It is needed to keep the steering wheel light, stable, and predictable—especially during parking, low-speed turns, and when the van is loaded.

How It Works

The pump is driven by the engine belt and pulls power steering fluid from the reservoir. Inside, a precision rotor/vane mechanism builds hydraulic pressure and sends it to the steering gear. A control valve then directs pressure left or right depending on steering input, helping you turn the wheels smoothly without fighting the weight of the vehicle.

What Happens If It’s Worn or Broken

A failing pump can cause whining noises, heavy steering, shudder during turning, or fluid foaming and leaks at the shaft seal. If ignored, low pressure and contaminated fluid can damage hoses and the steering rack, increasing repair cost and making the vehicle harder to control.

Why Replace It

Replacing the pump restores correct pressure, protects the steering system, and brings back factory-like steering feel and safety.
