How It Works ⚙️
When you pull the parking brake, the inner steel wire slides inside a protected outer sleeve. That pulling force transfers to the rear left brake lever, which expands the parking brake shoes or actuates the caliper parking mechanism (depending on the vehicle setup). The outer casing anchors the cable so the inner wire can apply force smoothly, even as the suspension moves.

A stretched, seized, or snapped cable can cause a weak handbrake, uneven rear brake hold, or a lever that pulls too high. In some cases the brake may drag if the cable binds, leading to heat, faster pad/shoe wear, reduced fuel economy, and possible rotor/drum damage.
