This rear wheel speed sensor is a key part of the anti-skid (ABS) and traction control system. It is needed to measure how fast the rear wheel is rotating and send that signal to the ABS control unit. How It Works ⚙️
The sensor reads a toothed ring or magnetic encoder near the hub. As the wheel turns, it creates a pulsed signal. The ABS module compares all wheel signals, then quickly adjusts brake pressure if one wheel starts to slip. This improves stopping control and reduces skidding.
What Happens If It Fails ❗
If the sensor is broken, dirty, or the wiring is damaged, the ABS/ESP warning light may come on.
