Rear Brake Caliper Piston ?
This rear brake caliper piston is a key part of the disc brake system. It is needed to press the brake pads evenly against the rear brake disc, helping the vehicle slow down safely and smoothly. How It Works ⚙️
When the brake pedal is pressed, brake fluid pressure moves the piston inside the rear caliper. The piston pushes the brake pad onto the rotor, creating friction to reduce wheel speed. When pressure is released, the piston returns slightly, allowing the pad to clear the disc and preventing brake drag.
What Happens If It Fails ⚠️
A worn, rusty, or stuck caliper piston can cause uneven braking, overheating, brake noise, pulling to one side, fast pad wear, or a soft brake pedal. If the piston seal leaks, brake fluid loss may occur, which can seriously reduce braking safety. Replacement is recommended when corrosion, scoring, sticking, or leakage is found during brake service.
