Why you need it οΈ
The caliper is the muscle of the disc brake. It squeezes pads onto the rotor to slow the truck, keeping braking straight and consistent under tow or off-road. Replacing a tired caliper brings back pedal feel, reduces fade, and protects rotors and pads.
How it works
Hydraulic pressure from the master cylinder moves the piston inside the caliper bore. The piston pushes the inboard pad; sliding pins let the bracket center the outer pad, clamping the rotor evenly. Bleeder screw purges air, while dust boots and seals keep fluid in and grit out.

Symptoms include pull to one side, spongy pedal, fluid leaks, uneven pad wear, or overheating rotors. A seized piston can glaze pads and warp the disc; a leaking seal reduces pressure and lengthens stopping distance. Ignoring it risks brake failure.
