Rear Right ABS Wheel Speed Sensor ?

This sensor is a key safety part in the ABS and stability control system. It is needed to read the rear right wheel speed in real time, so the car can prevent wheel lock during braking and keep traction on wet, icy, or loose roads.

How It Works βš™οΈ

The sensor sits near the wheel hub and β€œcounts” the rotation of a tone ring/encoder. It sends a clean speed signal to the ABS module. The module then adjusts brake pressure in pulses when it detects a wheel slowing too fast compared to the others. This helps maintain steering control while braking.

What Happens If It’s Broken ❌

When the sensor fails or its wiring gets damaged, the ABS computer loses accurate wheel data. You may see ABS/ASC warning lights, traction control may switch off, and hard braking can feel less stable. In some cases the speed signal becomes noisy, causing unexpected ABS activation or longer stopping distance on slippery surfaces.

Common Symptoms ?

  • ABS light on
  • Traction/stability warning
  • Intermittent braking pulsation
  • Fault codes for wheel speed input
