Front Left ABS Wheel Speed Sensor ?️
This sensor is a key safety part in the braking system. It is needed to measure how fast the front left wheel is turning and send that signal to the ABS/ESC control unit. With correct data, the car can prevent wheel lock-up during hard braking and keep steering control on wet or dusty roads.
How it works ⚙️
The sensor reads a tone ring (reluctor) near the hub. As the wheel rotates, it creates a pulsing signal. The control unit compares all wheel speeds and, if one wheel slows too fast, it rapidly modulates brake pressure to that wheel. This helps reduce skids and improves stability.
What happens if it fails ?
If the sensor is broken, dirty, or has wiring damage, the ABS light may turn on. ABS and traction control can switch off, braking distances may increase on slippery surfaces, and you may feel the wheels lock under panic braking. Some cars also show speed/ESC warnings due to lost wheel-speed data.
