Rear Right ABS Wheel Speed Sensor for Mitsubishi

Why you need this part

The ABS and stability systems rely on precise wheel speed data. This rear right sensor feeds the brake control unit so it can prevent wheel lock, balance brake force, and support traction control. With a healthy sensor, you get confident stops on wet or rough roads, shorter braking distances, and stable cornering.

How it works

This unit is a magnetic/Hall-effect pickup that reads a toothed ring or encoder built into the hub. As the wheel turns, the sensor generates a clean pulse signal. The ABS ECU translates these pulses into speed information, comparing all four corners hundreds of times per second. The sealed body and molded connector keep moisture and dust out for long life.

What happens if it fails

Typical signs include ABS and traction lights, longer stopping distance on slick roads, premature wheel lock, and pulsing or unexpected activation at low speed. Cruise control may be disabled, and stability assistance can switch off. In severe cases, corrosion on the tone ring causes intermittent signals and uneven braking feel.

Service tips

Inspect the encoder ring for rust, clean the mounting face, route the harness in original clips, and clear fault codes after installation. A proper gap and tight connector ensure a strong, noise-free signal.
