Rear Right ABS Wheel Speed Sensor ?️
This ABS sensor is required to keep your braking system smart and stable. It monitors the rear right wheel speed and sends a clean signal to the ABS/ESC control unit. When the unit detects a wheel slowing too fast, it quickly adjusts brake pressure to help prevent lock-up and keep steering control on slippery roads.
How it works ⚙️
The sensor reads the tone ring (reluctor) as it rotates with the wheel. Each tooth passing creates a pulse signal. The control module compares all wheels, then activates ABS modulation when needed. Correct sensor gap and a clean mounting area are critical for accurate readings.
What happens if it fails ❗
A damaged sensor or wiring can trigger the ABS light, disable ABS/traction functions, and cause erratic braking feel. You may notice longer stops on wet roads, wheel lock during hard braking, or speedometer/traction warnings depending on vehicle setup. Ignoring it can also stress bearings and create uneven tire wear.
