Steering Pitman Arm for Toyota SUV Steering Systems

This OE‑spec steering drop arm links the gearbox sector shaft to the drag link, converting your wheel input into precise lateral motion at the front linkage. Forged high‑strength steel and correct spline indexing keep steering geometry true under towing, heavy loads, and off‑road use. A durable coating helps resist corrosion for long service life.

Why you need it

This lever is the primary driver of the steering linkage. Replacing a worn unit restores tight on‑center feel, reduces wander, improves lane stability, and protects tires and joints from extra stress. It’s a must for safe control and predictable handling.

How it works ⚙️

The steering box rotates a splined sector shaft. The arm clamps to that shaft and swings in an arc. Its tapered stud seats in the drag link, turning rotation into controlled side push that steers both wheels. Proper leverage keeps toe steady and steering return smooth.

When worn or broken ❗

Common signs: loose steering, clunks over bumps, shimmy, uneven tire wear, and poor tracking. Advanced wear can strip splines or release the taper—leading to sudden loss of steering input, an immediate safety risk and inspection failure.

Tech notes

Match spline count and index marks; clean the sector shaft, apply light oil to threads only, and torque the sector nut to spec with a new lock washer. Seat the taper dry, torque the castle nut, fit a fresh cotter pin, then perform a front‑end alignment.
