    Steering Column Shaft Assembly (OEM)

    This OE-grade steering column shaft links your steering wheel to the gearbox/rack, turning driver input into precise road control. Tight splines and a precision universal joint deliver immediate response, while hardened steel and anti-corrosion coating ensure long service, even in harsh climates and off-road use.

    Why you need it

    Replace when you feel steering play, clunks, or vague on-center feel. A fresh shaft restores straight tracking, crisp feedback, and safety, especially under load, towing, or rough terrain.

    How it works ⚙️

    The upper spline locks to the column; the lower yoke couples to the rack input. The U-joint allows angle change without binding, and a collapsible section helps absorb impact energy. Together they transmit torque smoothly with minimal friction and zero lash when within spec.

    What happens if it’s broken ⚠️

    Expect clunking on bumps, notchiness, vibration, wandering, or heavy effort. Worn splines increase free play and can damage the rack input. A seized joint may bind unexpectedly, causing momentary loss of control—critical to fix before off-road trips or highway speeds.

    Installer notes ✅

    Center the wheel, mark alignment, torque pinch bolts to spec, verify telescoping, and recheck after a short drive. Inspect lower boot and column bearings while in there.
