Radiator Inlet Hose for Subaru Cooling System 🔧
This molded coolant hose links the thermostat housing to the radiator’s upper neck. It moves hot coolant out of the engine so the radiator can remove heat, keeping operating temperature stable. Built from heat‑resistant, fabric‑reinforced EPDM rubber, it resists pressure, ozone, and coolant chemicals for long, leak‑free service. Perfect OEM-spec fit for a clean, quick install. 🚗
Why this part is needed ❄️
Without a healthy upper hose, coolant flow is restricted or lost. Proper flow prevents overheating, protects the head gasket and aluminum heads, and keeps cabin heat reliable in cold weather. It’s critical to overall Subaru cooling system efficiency and engine life.
How it works
Driven by the water pump, coolant at about 90–105°C travels through this inlet path into the radiator. The pre‑formed bends avoid kinks, while inner fabric plies handle pulsation around 0.9–1.1 bar. Ribbed ends and clamps create a tight seal as the engine rocks under load.
What happens if it’s broken ⚠️
Cracks, swelling, or soft spots lead to seepage, steam, sweet coolant smell, low level, rising temperature, and heater fading at idle. A burst hose can cause rapid overheating, warped heads, or a blown gasket. If leaking, stop, cool down, and repair before driving.
Tech notes
Replace clamps with new spring or quality worm clamps, clean necks, and bleed air after refill. Inspect lower return hose and cap together. Service life is typically 5–7 years; replace at first sign of aging.
