Radiator Inlet Coolant Hose (Upper Feed Line) ?
This coolant hose carries hot engine coolant from the engine outlet to the radiator inlet. It is a small part, but it is critical for stable engine temperature and long engine life. A healthy hose keeps coolant flowing smoothly, even under high pressure and heat.
Why this hose is needed ✅
During normal driving, coolant expands and pressure rises in the cooling system. This hose must stay flexible, sealed, and crack-free to handle vibration, heat cycles, and coolant chemicals without leaking.
How it works ⚙️
The hose forms a sealed channel between the engine and radiator. With the water pump pushing coolant, it feeds the radiator so heat can be removed by airflow. Reinforced rubber layers help prevent collapse when RPM increases.
What happens if it’s broken ?
If the hose splits, swells, or gets soft, coolant can leak or the line can burst. That may cause overheating, steam, poor cabin heat, coolant smell, and low coolant warnings. Continued driving can lead to warped cylinder heads, blown head gasket, and major engine damage.
Technician tip ?️
Always inspect clamps and nearby fittings. Replace the hose if you see cracking, bulging, oil contamination, or a spongy feel when warm.
