Lower Radiator Outlet Hose – Engine Cooling Line

Keep coolant moving and temperatures stable ️. This molded outlet hose links the radiator’s lower port to the water pump inlet, returning cooled antifreeze to the engine. Made from high-grade EPDM with fabric/spiral reinforcement, it resists heat, ozone, and vacuum collapse at high RPM. Precision bends follow factory routing to clear fans, belts, and crossmembers for a hassle-free fit.

Why it’s needed

Healthy cooling prevents hot spots, knock, and oil breakdown. A fresh lower hose restores pressure integrity and flow, keeping the gauge steady in traffic, mountain climbs, or summer heat. It’s a small part that protects big components like the head gasket and radiator.

How it works

Once the thermostat opens, coolant exits the radiator at the bottom. This hose carries that cooled stream to the pump, which pushes it through the block and heads. The hose maintains round shape under suction, seals with clamps at both ends, and endures cycles from -40°C to 120°C.

When it fails

Look for cracks, swelling, soft spots, or a sweet coolant smell. A split or collapsed hose triggers rapid overheating, steam, loss of cabin heat, and can warp aluminum heads or blow the gasket ⚠️. Replace at first signs; don’t risk an engine.

Technician tips

Align the molded angles, clean and de-scale necks, position clamps just behind the bead, and tighten evenly. Avoid twists or kinks. Refill with fresh coolant, bleed air, then recheck for seepage after warm-up ✅.
