Why you need it
When the valve wears, pump flow is not managed correctly. You get heavy steering, uneven assist, extra strain on the pump, and premature rack wear. A fresh unit restores factory effort, protects seals, and cuts noise and vibration.
How it works
Inside sits a precision spool guided by a torsion bar linked to your steering shaft. As you turn the wheel, the spool shifts millimeters, routing ATF to the left or right chamber and opening the return on the opposite side. Tight clearances and quality O‑rings hold pressure and keep response linear.
If it fails ⚠️
Signs include a hard wheel at low speed, sudden over‑assist, steering shimmy, pump whining, and reddish ATF leaks near the housing. Metal sparkle in fluid means internal wear. Driving like this overheats fluid and can destroy the pump and gear.
