Steering Column Assembly for Mitsubishi 4x4 Pickups & SUVs

OE-grade replacement (cross-ref 4401A158) that links your steering wheel to the intermediate shaft and steering box/rack. It keeps alignment tight, supports the ignition lock and stalk switches, and collapses safely in a crash. Perfect fit for heavy-duty use on and off road.

Why this part is needed

Big tires, rough tracks, and high mileage wear column bearings, tilt joints, and splines. Replacing the unit restores precise steering feel, straight-line stability, and quiet operation. It also removes annoying free play and vibration at the wheel.

How it works

The upper shaft turns inside bushings/bearings, passes the tilt mechanism, then connects via a splined lower section to the U-joint. An energy-absorbing sleeve telescopes on impact. The column also provides a protected path for horn/cruise wiring via the clockspring. Bolt-on to factory mounts, corrosion-protected, and spline-matched for correct indexing.

What happens if it’s broken ⚠️

Symptoms include steering play, clunks over bumps, off-center wheel, stiff or notchy turns, or ignition misalignment. Ignoring it can strip splines or seize the joint, risking sudden steering lossβ€”replace at first signs of wear.
