Rear Differential Spider Gear Set ?️
This component is a core part inside the rear differential that lets the left and right wheels rotate at different speeds while still sending power to both. It’s needed every time you turn a corner, drive on uneven roads, or carry load—especially on heavy-duty Toyota platforms.
How It Works ⚙️
The spider gears sit around the side gears inside the carrier. When driving straight, they rotate as a unit and share torque evenly. During turns, they begin to spin on their pin, allowing one axle shaft to speed up while the other slows down. This keeps handling smooth, reduces tire scrub, and protects axles from twist stress.
If It’s Worn or Broken ?
A damaged spider gear set can cause clunking on take-off, clicking while turning, vibration, or metal flakes in the oil. If ignored, it may lock the differential, strip teeth, damage the ring & pinion, or even leave the vehicle with no drive—turning a small repair into a full diff rebuild.
