Rear Differential Mount Bushing for Subaru AWD MT
Why this part is needed
This bushing secures the rear differential to the subframe, keeping the driveline aligned under engine torque. It filters vibration, limits twist during hard shifts, and protects gears and bearings. A healthy mount keeps the car smooth and quiet, especially in all-wheel-drive, manual-transmission setups.
How it works ⚙️
A steel shell is pressed into the carrier bracket; a rubber/elastomer core holds the inner sleeve and bolt. Under load, the material flexes in shear and compression, controlling movement and absorbing NVH. Correct stiffness keeps pinion angle stable and prevents shock loads to the prop shaft and axles.
What happens if it’s broken
Expect clunks on takeoff, shudder under acceleration, harsh shift feel, and rear-end vibration. The diff can sag or tilt, causing misalignment, faster wear of side mounts, U‑joints, axle seals, and even ring‑and‑pinion noise. Prolonged driving may crack the crossmember bushings and stress the driveshaft coupler.
Benefits of replacement ✅
Restores driveline stability, reduces noise, and extends diff and prop shaft life. OEM-grade rubber durometer balances comfort and control; corrosion-resistant shell ensures long service.
Install notes ️
Press-in design. Support the differential, mark hardware, and torque bolts at ride height. Inspect side and front diff mounts at the same time.
