This front suspension damper is a key part that keeps your vehicle stable, comfortable, and safe. How It Works ⚙️
Inside the body, oil (and in some designs gas pressure) is forced through small valves as the piston moves up and down. These valves create controlled resistance, converting road shock into heat and calming the suspension. In many front setups, this strut-style design also helps support the steering knuckle for precise alignment.

A failing damper can cause nose-diving under braking, extra body roll, longer braking distance, and uneven tire wear like cupping. You may notice knocking, fluid leaks, vibration, or a “floating” feeling at highway speed. If ignored, it can accelerate wear of top mounts, bushings, springs, and even affect ABS/traction behavior due to poor tire contact.
