Why you need it
The ECU relies on accurate exhaust temperature to time post-injection, manage EGR, and start/stop DPF regen. A healthy sensor prevents overheating, saves fuel, and avoids soot build-up. It also helps maintain factory power and smooth drivability.
How it works ⚙️
Inside the probe is a fast-response thermistor. As exhaust temperature rises, resistance changes. The ECU reads this as a voltage signal and adjusts fueling, boost, and regeneration strategy accordingly. The stainless tip resists corrosion, and a heat-shielded lead keeps the signal clean under high heat.
What happens if it fails ⚠️
Common effects: Check Engine Light, limp mode, poor acceleration, excessive fuel use, failed or frequent DPF regens, overheating risk to turbo/DPF, and possible fault codes like P0544/P2031. Long-term driving with a bad sensor may crack the DPF or damage the turbo.
Install tips ✅
