This sensor is a key input for the ECU to control fuel mixture, ignition timing, cooling fan operation, and cold-start strategy. It is needed to keep the engine running smoothly in all temperatures and to prevent overheating surprises on the road.

How It Works ?

The unit sits in the coolant passage and reads coolant heat using a thermistor. As temperature changes, its electrical resistance changes. The ECU converts that signal into a real temperature value, then adjusts injection and fan commands to match engine conditions.

What Happens If It Fails ⚠️

A faulty sensor can send β€œtoo hot” or β€œtoo cold” readings. That may cause hard starting, rough idle, poor fuel economy, black smoke, radiator fan running at the wrong time, overheating, or an illuminated check engine light. Long-term driving with bad readings can lead to catalyst damage and engine wear.
