Oxygen (O2) Exhaust Sensor Assembly ?
This exhaust oxygen sensor is a key feedback part for modern Hyundai/KIA petrol engines. It is needed to measure the oxygen level in the exhaust stream so the ECU can correct the air-fuel mixture in real time. When the mixture is right, the engine runs smoother, fuel use drops, and the catalytic converter stays protected.
How it works ⚙️
The sensing element reacts to oxygen content and sends a voltage signal to the ECU. The ECU then adjusts injector pulse and fuel trims. Most versions include an internal heater, helping the sensor reach working temperature quickly after cold start for faster closed-loop control.
What happens if it fails ?
A weak or dead sensor can cause a check engine light, rough idle, hesitation, higher fuel consumption, and failed emissions tests. If ignored, the engine may run too rich and overheat the catalytic converter, leading to expensive exhaust damage.
