Engine Crank Position Sensor for Precise Spark and Fuel β›½βš™οΈ

This CKP sensor is the engine’s timekeeper. It monitors crank rotation so the ECU knows exactly when to fire the spark and inject fuel. With an accurate signal, you get smooth idle, crisp starts, solid power, and clean emissions.

Why this part is needed βœ…

Modern engines rely on exact crank angle data for ignition timing and injection sequencing. The sensor keeps the ECU in sync with the pistons, preventing misfire and rough running.

How it works

Mounted near the crank pulley or flywheel, the sensor reads a toothed wheel (reluctor). As teeth pass the tip, it generates a pulse train. The ECU interprets these pulses as engine speed and position, coordinating spark and fuel to each cylinder.

What happens if it fails ⚠️

No-start or long cranking, sudden stall when hot, uneven idle, weak acceleration, erratic tachometer, and fault codes like P0335. If the signal is lost, the engine may not start at all; if it’s noisy, you’ll get misfires and poor fuel economy.

Tech tips from the bay

  • Inspect connector pins and harness routing; heat and oil can damage insulation.
  • Clean the mounting boss; set proper air gap; avoid contact with the reluctor.
  • Torque the retaining bolt correctly and clear stored codes after install.
  • Choose OE-grade sealing to resist vibration, heat, moisture, and oil.
