Differential Side Oil Seal ?️
This sealing ring is a small but critical part that keeps gear oil inside the differential where it belongs. It sits at the side output area, sealing around the rotating shaft to stop oil leaks while allowing smooth axle movement. A healthy seal helps the differential stay lubricated, quiet, and protected under load.
Why this part is needed ✅
The differential works with heavy pressure and constant rotation. Without a tight seal, warm gear oil can escape, letting dirt and water enter. This part maintains correct oil level and keeps contamination out, which is key for long gear life.
How it works ⚙️
Inside the seal is a shaped rubber lip with a tension spring. The lip rides on the shaft surface and creates a controlled contact line. As the shaft spins, the lip design guides oil back inward, preventing seepage even during high-speed driving.
What happens if it’s broken ❌
A worn or torn seal often causes oily wetness near the differential side, drips on the ground, and a low oil level. If ignored, the differential may overheat, whine, develop bearing damage, or suffer gear scoring—leading to costly rebuilds.
