Side Flange Retaining Circlip for Nissan Drivetrain
This small retaining ring is a critical safety keeper inside the axle/side flange area of the driveline. Its job is simple: lock the side flange in the correct position so torque from the gearbox/differential is transferred smoothly to the axle without unwanted movement.
Why this part is needed ✅
Under load, the side flange can try to walk outward due to vibration, heat expansion, and constant push-pull forces from the CV/axle. The circlip sits in a machined groove and acts like a mechanical “stop,” holding the assembly where Nissan engineered it to run.
How it works ⚙️
When installed, the ring snaps into its groove and provides spring tension. That tension keeps the flange seated, maintains correct endplay, and helps protect seals and bearings from side-loading.
What happens if it’s broken or missing
- Flange/axle may slide out of position
- Grease or gear oil leaks from stressed seals
