Front Left Axle Drive Shaft Assembly
This drivetrain component transfers engine torque from the transaxle/front differential to the left front wheel while allowing the suspension and steering to move freely. Itβs a must-have part for stable acceleration, smooth cornering, and proper 4WD/traction operation.
How It Works βοΈ
The shaft spins under load and uses constant-velocity joints to keep power flowing at changing angles. As the wheel turns left/right and the suspension goes up/down, the joints maintain a steady drive without binding, helping reduce vibration and drivetrain shock.
When Replacement Is Needed
If the joint boots tear, grease escapes and dirt enters. Soon you may hear clicking on turns, feel shudder on takeoff, or notice vibration at speed. In severe cases the joint can seize or separate, leaving the vehicle unable to move and risking damage to the hub seal, differential output, or ABS tone ring.
