Why you need it
Rear-drive vans use a long shaft. Without a strong middle support, the shaft can whip, shake, and wear fast. This unit prevents harsh vibration under load, towing, and stop-go city driving, improving comfort and part life.
How it works
The inner race turns with the prop shaft. The outer race is bonded to a rubber cushion inside a rigid housing that bolts to the chassis crossmember. The rubber absorbs road shocks while the bearing spins freely, keeping driveline angles correct.
Signs of failure and risks
Buzz or growl at 40–80 km/h, take-off shudder, thump on shifts, torn rubber, sagging hanger, or grease seepage. If ignored, it can misalign the shaft, eat U-joints, wear the pinion seal, and in extreme cases cause shaft drop. ❗
