Rear Axle Inner Bearing Retainer for Mitsubishi ?

This rear axle retainer is a small but critical locking piece that keeps the inner wheel bearing seated in the correct position on the rear axle. It is needed whenever the original retainer is worn, stretched, cracked, or removed during bearing service. A tight, correct-fit retainer helps the axle assembly stay stable under load, especially during cornering and braking.

How It Works βš™οΈ

The retainer is pressed onto the axle shaft to clamp the inner bearing in place. It prevents bearing creep (side movement), maintains proper preload/alignment, and helps the bearing run true. When installed correctly, it supports smooth rotation, reduces vibration, and protects nearby seals from abnormal wear.

What Happens If It’s Broken ❗

A damaged or loose retainer can let the bearing shift on the axle. This may cause rumbling noise, rear-end wobble, uneven tire wear, leaking axle seal, overheating, and in severe cases axle play that can compromise handling and safety. If you notice grinding sounds or oil near the rear hub, inspection is urgent.
