Why this part is needed
Over time the lining wears, glazing forms, and clearances grow. Replacing the disc restores clutch pack grip, prevents slip, cuts heat, and protects the drum, steels, and planetary set. It’s essential during any transmission refresh or rebuild.
How it works 🔧
When hydraulic pressure fills the apply circuit, the disc clamps between steel plates. Friction converts relative motion to lockup, sending engine power through the geartrain. Oil grooves manage ATF flow for cooling and consistent engagement.
What happens if it’s broken ⚠️
Expect flare or slip on upshifts, delayed engagement, shudder, burnt ATF smell, and dark debris in the pan. Continued driving overheats the pack, warps steels, contaminates the valve body/solenoids, triggers limp mode, and can demand a full overhaul.
