Why this part is needed ️
When the factory differential and ring–pinion wear out, you get whining on cruise, clunks on launch, torque steer, and metal flakes in oil. Replacing the assembly restores quiet running, clean cornering, and consistent traction. It also prevents collateral damage to the gearbox case and bearings.
How it works
Power leaves the manual gearbox, spins a hypoid pinion, and turns the ring gear bolted to the carrier. Inside, spider and side gears split torque to both drive shafts so inner and outer wheels can rotate at different speeds in a turn. Tapered bearings hold the carrier; shims set preload and backlash. Correct tooth contact gives smooth, low‑noise drive.
What happens if it’s broken ⚠️
Expect growl on decel, vibration, oil leaks, tire scrub, and hot, dark gear oil. Severe wear can chip teeth, lock the diff, or strip the ring gear, leaving the car without drive and risking transmission case cracks.
Install & care tips
Use fresh GL‑5 75W‑90, renew seals and bearings, torque ring gear bolts, and set backlash and preload per service manual. After install, perform a gentle 500 km break‑in and early oil change for long life.
