Why this part is needed
During normal driving, friction material and fine metal dust build up in the pan. The strainer traps this contamination before it reaches sensitive hydraulic passages. A clean strainer helps maintain correct line pressure and stable shift timing, especially in stop-and-go traffic and hot climates.
How it works
ATF is pulled through a mesh/screen element and directed to the pump. The filter media catches debris while allowing consistent flow. Proper flow means the pump can feed the valve body without cavitation, keeping shifts smooth and torque delivery predictable.
