Smooth Idle Control for Hyundai/Kia ️
This idle speed control actuator keeps compact Hyundai and Kia engines steady at stoplights and on cold starts. Also called an idle air control valve (IAC), it meters bypass air around the throttle so the ECU holds target RPM and prevents stalls.
Why you need it
Closed-throttle airflow is tiny and changes with temperature and load. This unit stabilizes idle when A/C, lights, or steering add load, improving start quality, emissions, and fuel economy. Your engine feels calm and predictable in traffic.
How it works ⚙️
A stepper motor moves a pintle that opens a small air passage in the throttle body. The ECU watches RPM and sensors, then trims the pintle in fine steps to keep the idle setpoint. A tight O-ring or gasket prevents vacuum leaks and erratic revs.
What happens if it’s broken ⚠️
Typical symptoms: hunting or surging idle, high or low idle, hard cold start, random stalling, or a Check Engine Light. Fuel may run rich, the exhaust can smell, and the engine may die when shifting to Drive or switching the A/C on.
Fitting tips
Bolts to the throttle body in minutes. Clean the bypass port, install a fresh seal, and perform an idle relearn after battery reset. Inspect wiring and connector; weak grounds or corroded pins can mimic a failed IAC.
