Underdrive Planetary Ring Gear (Automatic Transmission)
This ring gear is a core hard-part inside the automatic transmission underdrive planetary set. βοΈ Itβs needed to create the correct low and mid-range gear ratios, so the vehicle can launch smoothly, climb hills, and shift without flare or harsh engagement.
How It Works
The gearβs internal teeth mesh with the planetary pinion gears while the transmission applies clutches and brakes. By holding or driving the ring gear, the system changes which member rotates, multiplying torque when you need it most. Proper tooth profile and hardness keep load spread evenly and reduce noise.
