Driveshaft U‑Joint Spider Assembly
This heavy‑duty propeller shaft universal joint keeps your Mitsubishi 4x4 driveline smooth and quiet. It lets the shaft transmit engine torque while changing angles between gearbox, transfer case, and axle—essential for suspension travel, towing, and off‑road use .
Why you need it
A healthy U‑joint prevents vibration, protects yokes and seals, and maintains correct driveshaft alignment. It’s a critical safety and comfort component for daily and rugged driving.
How it works
A cross‑shaped spider sits between two yokes. Each trunnion runs on needle bearings inside four precision caps, sealed to keep grease in and dirt out. Proper lubrication creates a rolling film that reduces friction and heat, keeping rotation true even at steep angles.
If it fails ⚠️
Symptoms include clunk on take‑off, speed‑related vibration, chirp/squeak, rust dust by caps, and visible play. Continued use can crack caps, spit needles, and snap the joint—risking loss of drive, dropping the shaft, and damage to the transfer case or differential.
