Why this part is needed
Automatic transmissions create heat. Without efficient cooling, ATF thins out, friction rises, and internal parts wear fast. A proper cooler holds optimal viscosity, reduces oxidation, and maintains hydraulic pressure for crisp gear changes.
How it works
ATF is pumped from the gearbox through a finβandβtube heat exchanger. Airflow and, on some cars, engine coolant carry heat away. The cooled fluid returns to the transmission, keeping operating temps in the safe zone βοΈ.
What happens if itβs damaged or clogged
Expect harsh or slipping shifts, delayed engagement, burnt fluid smell, warning lights, and in severe cases limp mode. Leaks can starve the pump; internal failure may contaminate ATF with metal.
