Speedometer Driven Gear for A/T SUVs βš™οΈ

This precision gear transfers output speed from the automatic transmission to the vehicle speed sensor and instrument cluster. It keeps your speedometer and odometer accurate, and helps the transmission shift smoothly. Built with a calibrated tooth profile and a sealed shaft, it resists heat, ATF, and the heavy loads common in 4x4 use. Perfect when the original unit is worn, noisy, or leaking.

Why you need it

Modern drivetrains depend on true road-speed data. This gear delivers that data so the ECU can manage shift timing, cruise control, ABS/VSC logic, and traction systems. Accurate gearing prevents fines from wrong speed readings and protects the transmission.

How it works

The driven gear meshes with the transmission output shaft. As the shaft turns, the gear spins the speed sensor rotor, which converts rotation into electrical pulses for the dash and ECU. Correct tooth count sets the ratio; an O-ring seals the housing to prevent ATF leaks.

What happens if it’s broken ⚠️

  • Dead or erratic speedometer/odometer
  • Harsh, late, or early A/T shifts
  • Cruise control inoperative
  • ABS/VSC lights, possible limp mode
  • ATF seepage at sensor/gear housing
  • Whine or grinding from tail housing

Install notes

Match tooth count/color code, lightly oil the new O-ring, seat the gear fully, torque the retainer, then confirm VSS data with a scan tool and road-test.
