Gear Selector Rotary Position Sensor βοΈ
This OEM-fit rotary position unit reads the exact angle of the transmission selector shaft on your full-size Infiniti SUV. The control module uses this signal to confirm Park, Reverse, Neutral, and Drive, enabling safe engine start, correct backup lamp logic, and smooth shift scheduling during daily driving or towing.
Why you need it β
Accurate range feedback keeps safety interlocks, starter permission, and shift mapping in sync. It prevents harsh engagements, reduces clutch wear, and supports precise hydraulic control so the transmission applies the right elements at the right time.
How it works οΈ
Inside is a sealed rotary track and wiper (or Hall sensor with a magnet). As the selector shaft turns, the unit converts rotation into a clean voltage pattern that the TCM reads as gear positions. A keyed hub keeps alignment precise, while weatherproof terminals maintain stable readings in heat, vibration, and moisture.
If itβs failing β οΈ
- No-start outside Park/Neutral or intermittent starts
- PRNDL mismatch; reverse lights not working
- Harsh shifts, limp mode, range/performance fault codes
- Poor economy and accelerated clutch wear
