Transmission Extension Housing Dust Deflector ️
This OE-style shield protects the rear of the gearbox where the output shaft and slip yoke meet the tail housing. It blocks road grit, mud, and spray from striking the rear seal and bushing, keeping ATF where it belongs and the driveline running smooth.
Why this part is needed
Dust and sand act like grinding paste. Without a proper guard, the lip seal wears fast, the tail bushing scuffs, and the driveshaft yoke picks up corrosion. This deflector extends seal life, lowers leak risk, and helps the transmission run cooler and cleaner.
How it works ⚙️
The deflector is a press-fit ring that sits on the extension (tail) housing. Its profile redirects airflow from the spinning yoke, throwing debris outward while shielding the seal face. Drain notches let moisture escape, reducing sludge buildup around the seal.
When it fails ⚠️
Cracked or missing shield = red ATF mist on the underbody, damp tail housing, vibration on take-off, whining at speed, yoke spline rust, and early rear seal failure. Ignoring it risks ATF loss, hotter shifts, and output bearing wear.
