Why you need it βœ…

Reverse is essential for daily parking and trailer work. A healthy gear also keeps shaft thrust balanced, helping bearings, hubs, and the idler live longer, and keeping oil free from metal debris.

How it works ?

When you select β€œR”, the selector sleeve locks this gear, and the idler flips rotation so the output turns backward. Correct backlash, surface hardening, and oil paths let teeth mesh smoothly at low speed with minimal heat and wear.

If the gear is worn or broken ?

  • Grinding or clunk when engaging reverse
  • Pops out of reverse under load
  • Whining noise; metal flakes in oil
  • No reverse drive; risk to idler, hub, forks, and bearings

Replace promptly. Inspect synchronizer parts, forks, and bearings, set end play, renew seals, and fill with fresh GL-4 oil. Gentle break-in for 300–500 km is advised.
