    Why this part is needed ✅

    This gearbox sensor tells the engine computer when the shifter is in neutral. With a correct neutral signal, the ECU controls idle speed, applies decel fuel cut, manages start safety logic, and handles cruise control. It keeps starts smooth, prevents unexpected lurching, and helps emissions and fuel economy.

    How it works 🔌

    The switch screws into the transmission case and has a spring-loaded plunger that touches the shift rail. In neutral it changes state (on/off), sending a clean signal to the ECU. It’s a simple, sealed two-wire on/off device designed to survive heat, oil, and vibration. When neutral is selected, the circuit toggles and the ECU adjusts idle and fueling accordingly.

    What happens if it’s broken ❗

    Common signs: hard or no start unless clutch is fully pressed, unstable or high idle, stalling when coasting to a stop, cruise control disabled, worse fuel use, and a Check Engine Light (often P0851/P0852). The gearbox still shifts, but drivability and safety logic suffer because the ECU can’t confirm neutral.
