Neutral Safety Switch Assembly ⚙️
This transmission position switch is a small but critical part that tells the vehicle when the gear selector is in P (Park) or N (Neutral). It is needed to keep starting and shifting safe, and to help the ECU and starter circuit “agree” that the car is in a safe state to crank ✅.
How It Works ?
Mounted on or near the selector mechanism, the switch changes internal contacts as you move the shifter. When it detects Park/Neutral, it completes the starter enable circuit. On many setups it also supports reverse light logic and correct gear signal input, helping smooth engagement and stable idle control.
If the Part Is Broken ?
A faulty unit may cause no-crank (even with a good battery), intermittent starting, wrong gear indication, reverse lights not working, or harsh/odd shifting. In worst cases, it can allow unsafe starting in the wrong gear, which is a serious drivability and safety risk.
