Reverse Light Switch for Nissan Gearbox
Why this part is needed
When you shift to reverse, the backup lamps must power on to alert others and light your way. This switch is the small, tough sensor on the transmission that sends the on/off signal. It keeps night parking safer, helps avoid obstacles, and is required for road legality in many regions.
How it works
Mounted in the case of the manual or auto transmission, the plunger inside the switch is pressed by the reverse selector rail. That closes an internal circuit and feeds 12V to the rear lamps . The body is sealed to resist oil and heat, and the connector ensures stable voltage with low resistance.
What happens if it fails
Symptoms include no reverse lights, lights stuck on, blown fuse, or intermittent operation. Driving with no backup lamps reduces visibility and can cause inspection failures β οΈ. Prolonged shorting may overheat wiring or damage the lamp circuit.
Tech notes
Replace with a quality OE-spec unit, clean threads, use a fresh sealing washer, and torque to spec. Check bulbs and fuse after install. Quick plug-in jobβno programming needed β .
