Automatic Transmission Control Solenoid Assembly

This transmission control solenoid assembly is a key hydraulic-electrical part that helps your Subaru automatic gearbox shift smoothly and at the right time. It is needed because modern transmissions rely on precise oil pressure control to engage clutch packs and bands without harsh jolts or slip.

How It Works

βš™οΈ The transmission computer sends a signal to the solenoid. The solenoid then opens or closes internal oil passages, regulating hydraulic pressure to the valve body circuits. This controls shift timing, torque converter behavior, and line pressure stability, keeping gear changes clean and consistent.

What Happens If It Fails

A faulty solenoid can cause delayed shifting, flare between gears (engine revs rise but speed doesn’t), harsh engagements, shudder, or the transmission going into fail-safe mode. You may also notice warning lights, poor fuel economy, overheating, and accelerated clutch wear if driving continues with incorrect pressure control.
