Gear Selector Safety Sensor ⚙️
This OEM-grade neutral safety device tells the car when the lever is in Park or Neutral. It guards the starter circuit, informs the transmission computer, and switches the reverse lights. A healthy park neutral position sensor equals safe starts and clean shift logic.
Why you need it
It prevents the engine from cranking in gear, protects the drivetrain, and keeps the PRNDL reading true. It also helps the automatic gearbox choose the right strategy in cold, hills, or traffic.
How it works
Inside is a contact track and wiper set. As you move the shifter, the wiper bridges dedicated pads for P, R, N, D. The starter relay only energizes in P or N, while the module reads position for idle control and backup lamps.
What happens if it fails ❗
No-start in Park/Neutral, starts only when wiggling the lever, wrong gear shown, harsh or delayed shifts, reverse lights out, or a warning lamp. Causes include wear, moisture, or misalignment.
Tech notes ️
Direct-fit unit with factory plug and weather-sealed body. Simple install on the transmission case: align marks, bolt down, then verify start only in P/N. No programming required.
