Automatic Transmission Oil Strainer for Subaru

This Subaru transmission filter protects the gearbox by catching clutch dust and tiny metal chips in the ATF. A clean strainer keeps the pump supplied, pressure stable, and shifts smooth. It’s a must-have part for long life of your automatic or CVT, reducing wear, heat, and noise.

Why you need it ✅

Over time, friction material and debris build up in fluid. The strainer holds this dirt so it does not reach the valve body, solenoids, and pump. Regular replacement during service prevents costly repairs and maintains factory shift quality.

How it works ⚙️

Mounted in the transmission pan, a fine steel mesh and molded pickup filter ATF before it enters the pump. The flow path is: pan → strainer → pump → valve body → cooler → back to pan. An O-ring seals the inlet to avoid air leaks and pressure loss.

What happens if it fails

Clogging or a torn screen causes delayed engagement, flare, slipping, harsh shifts, whining pump, overheating, and AT temp warnings. Running like this can burn clutches, score the pump, and damage the valve body. Replace the gasket and O-ring, torque the pan evenly, refill with Subaru-spec ATF/CVT fluid, and perform level and relearn as needed.
